Events & Alarms

Introduction

All N-Squared Applications running under the n2svcd framework generate:

There are several different mechanisms which can be used to access these outputs.

This section of the document describes the configuration and use of these different mechanisms.

Events & Alarms

Events & Alarms are always triggered by the applications. However, configuration can be used to control the mechanisms and destinations to which these Event & Alarm logs are pushed.

The possible destinations for Alarms & Events generated by n2svcd are:

  1. The STDERR output of the n2svcd process,
  2. The in-memory tracing system accessible via the management GUI or API,
  3. The Linux Syslog,
  4. The Linux snmptrapd or other process which accepts SNMP (v2c/v3) traps.
